Who are we?

The Medicine Hat Motorcycle Society is a volunteer-run, non-profit organization that is dedicated to helping community members enjoy the sport of recreational motorcycle riding. Volunteers organize events and activities geared towards all levels of riders that helps to teach the fundamentals of off road riding.

Our Volunteers maintain the tracks at Medicine Hat Motocross Park located just outside of Medicine Hat, as well as organize events and activities geared towards all levels of riders that helps to teach the fundamentals of off-road riding.

We believe racing teaches people discipline and responsibility through competition. We have second-generation members following in the footsteps of their parents joining in the riding and organizing of these competitions. Riders from age six to sixty can and do enjoy this sport.

The MHMS has always had a strong volunteer base with new generations joining in to do their part. Over the years we have developed rules & guidelines to keep order and we abide by all of the regulations set out in the Societies Act. These rules teach riders respect for the land, respect for our neighbors, and respect for other riders. The Medicine Hat Motorcycle Society belongs to the sanctioning body CMRC that provides insurance and guidelines for our events. We are an environmentally responsible organization with the belief that we need to put back what we take from the land.

Club History

In 1965, a group of six motorcycle enthusiasts decided to form a club and thus the Medicine Hat Trail Winders was formed. The intention of the members was merely to promote the sport of motorcycling in their community in an organized manner. Within a year interest in the club escalated and the club needed a permanent place for its members to ride.

In 1988, the members decided to incorporate the club changing its name to the Medicine Hat Motorcycle Club and at this time the Alberta Government leased land to the club to use on a full time basis. The land eventually changed hands from the Alberta Government to the City of Medicine Hat who continued to lease to the MHMS.

In 2003, due to circumstances beyond our control, the City of Medicine Hat was unfortunately no longer able to lease the MHMS the land that the club had used for so many years. The club eventually found a new piece of land to call home & years later the club, is still thriving.
